CABERNET/SHIRAZ BLEND 2020 VINTAGE
50% Shiraz 50% Cabernet Sauvignon blend
The Wine
Crafted by our Award Winning Winemaker using Basket Press and Open Fermentation methods. American Oak Barrel fermented for 20 months. A delicious 70/30 blend of our Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of Roasted Capsicum, Red Currant, Spice, Mint and Dark Cherry and lingering Fruit Cake, Blackberry and Blackcurrant on the palate. A food pairing match made in heaven with Barbecued Greek Lamb and Tzatziki sauce.
With deep purple tones, this shiraz/cabernet sauvignon blend displays on the nose a burst of earthiness, leather, roast capsicum spice and dark cherry.
On the palate are notes of lively black current, leather, Christmas cake, subtle oak with medium tannins and a long finish.
This wine has been optimally blended by the Téssera Team, guided by winemaker Phil Christiansen. This is a tradition that we look forward to with each vintage.
The Story
Our Grandad Len was an Engineer who retired at the age of 76. Rougher than hessian underpants, but plagued by arthritis which rendered him unable to move freely, he refused the use of a cane and maneuvered himself around with the aid of the nearest wall. Reminiscent of the days of the Snake Oil peddler and his cure-alls...with one swig miraculously healing the ageing cripple in the audience, it reminds me of Len and his few beers at the end of a day in the garden under the shade of a tree....you would swear he had no affliction at all. The Good Oil is aptly named in his memory. The Good Oil...for whatever ails ya.
