As highlighted in Halliday Wine Companion’s recent feature “Spanish Varieties to Try”, Grenache continues to gain recognition as one of Australia’s most expressive and exciting red varietals. Celebrated for its vibrancy, spice and textural complexity, it is a variety that thrives in regions like McLaren Vale, where old vines bring depth and natural intensity.

Our Foxtrot Grenache 2025 Centenarian Old Vines Reserve captures this evolution of style with precision and character. Sourced from vines that are 100 years old or more, this release reflects the quiet power and concentration that only heritage plantings can deliver.

McLaren Vale is renowned for producing some of Australia’s most compelling Grenache, and this wine is a true expression of that pedigree. The combination of ancient vines and a warm growing season results in a wine that is both vibrant and grounded, carrying brightness of fruit alongside savoury depth and structure.

Halliday Wine Companion Rating: 92 Points

We are proud to see Foxtrot Grenache 2025 recognised with a 92-point rating from Halliday Wine Companion, accompanied by the following tasting note from Marcus Ellis:

“As the label states, this is from vines 100 years, or more, of age. This saw 11 months in oak. There’s a fruit brightness from this warm year and also pleasing savoury reserve, likely from those venerable vines. Dried cherry, redcurrant, rosehip, fennel seed, caraway and white pepper. The palate is of medium concentration, with oak adding some dry tannin, though staying mostly out of the picture. It’s a nicely composed grenache with old-vine charm.”

A Modern Expression of Old Vine Elegance

Foxtrot Grenache 2025 sits at the intersection of heritage and modern winemaking. Layered yet refined, it showcases the hallmark traits of old vine McLaren Vale Grenache purity of fruit, savoury complexity and a finely tuned structure that allows the vineyard to speak clearly.

This is a wine that reflects both place and patience, offering a composed and elegant expression of a variety that continues to define Australia’s fine wine landscape.
