The Wine and Winemaking
Fortified with the juice of old-wine Grenache fruit from Mclaren Vale and Blewitt Springs, aged for 15 years in old oak casks, it has developed deep, concentrated flavours as the angles have taken their share since we first began making it in 2010. Hints of fruitcake, sultana, and gentle sweetness linger on a long, warming palate, truly moreish.

"First, one must commend the name, celebrating the wine style and the tawny frogmouth, which are nightjars, I believe, or closely related enough, which gives the pun more resonance, given the general application. The alcohol has some initial kick, but it quickly settles into notes of roasted almonds and walnuts, malted barley, choc-coated coffee beans, toffee apple, amaro spicing and ground mace.
